The challenge

Matt had everything a good tradesperson needs — specialist skills, a great reputation, same-day service, and a 100km reach across the Far North. But his Google Business Profile was set up incorrectly for a mobile service-area business, which was capping his reach entirely. His website had no location-specific content and wasn't structured for search. When Far North drivers searched "AC regas Kerikeri" or "car air conditioning Paihia", Matt simply didn't exist on Google.

The opportunity

Auto air conditioning is a high-intent search — when someone's AC fails on a hot Far North summer day, they search Google and call the first result they find. Owning the Top 3 positions in Google Maps and organic search across a 100km service area meant a consistent stream of ready-to-book customers calling Matt directly — no ad spend, no booking platform commissions, no middleman.

Fast, SEO-Optimised Website

Built a new website for Mobile Auto Air from scratch — fast-loading, mobile-first, and structured for local search from day one. Every page includes the right title tags, meta descriptions, heading structure, and location-specific content targeting AC repair searches across Kerikeri, Kaitaia, Paihia, and the wider Far North. The site loads in under a second, giving Matt a built-in ranking advantage over slower competitors. It also integrates directly with his Google Business Profile so both work together to reinforce his authority and location signals with Google.

Service-Area Business GBP Rebuild

Rebuilt the GBP from scratch as a properly configured service-area business — hiding the address (as Google requires for mobile operators), setting the correct 100km service radius, and adding all Far North towns as explicit service area locations. This was the most critical fix: Matt's GBP had been set up as a standard location-based business, which was capping his reach and explaining why he was invisible on Maps despite years in business and great reviews.

Category & Service Optimisation

Set the primary category to "Auto Air Conditioning Service" and added secondary categories for mobile mechanic and auto repair. Built out the full services list — regas, leak detection, compressor replacement, truck AC, fleet maintenance — each with keyword-rich descriptions that match how Far North drivers search.

Growing Reviews

Set up a simple system to consistently collect new Google reviews from happy customers. More reviews signal trust and authority to Google, which directly supports rankings — and give new customers the confidence to call.

Location-Specific Service Pages

Built location pages targeting each major town in Matt's service area — "AC Regas Kerikeri", "Car Air Conditioning Paihia", "Auto AC Kaitaia", "Mobile AC Kaikohe". Each page targets the specific searches drivers in that area make and helps Google understand the full geographic scope of the service.

Building Citations to Grow Google's Trust

Built out a citation profile across relevant NZ business directories — with consistent business name, address, phone, and service descriptions throughout. These citations reinforce the business's legitimacy and service area to Google, signalling that Mobile Auto Air is an established, credible operator across the Far North.
